[Matt] This is the post we’ve all been waiting for. Maia Helena (My-ah He-LAY-nah) Povich was born on Friday, June 24 2011 at 6:42 PM EDT, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. She was 4 weeks early, weighed 5 lbs, 6 oz and measured 18.5″ in length. Sudden complications with Kerean’s pregnancy necessitated a caesarian delivery (under general anesthesia) at short notice. A more detailed birth story will have to wait for another post, but in summary, while Kerean didn’t have to go through labor and birth with Maia, the recovery for both Mom and baby has been predictably difficult, given the circumstances. (I say “predictably” because anything else would imply post-birth complications, of which happily there have been none so far.) Both Kerean and Maia have been doing great, and I am one proud husband and papa.

Needless to say, everything has happened very quickly, and we’re still in a bit of disbelief that we are actually parents. But our little one is super-adorable and we love her with all our hearts. I’m biased of course, but see for yourself.
